In 1995, he relocated to GMTV, where he served as an anchor for Alastair Stewart’s Sunday program until 2001.
Police camera footage was featured on ITV in 1994 by Stewart. After being found guilty of drunk driving, he was later dropped. He hosted the weekday show Live with Alastair Stewart on the ITV News channel in 2003 as the Iraq War raged on. He anchored the general election in 2005, he was also a main anchor of election night live in America Decides.
Stewart became a co-presenter in 2007 on ITV Lunchtime News he replaced Nicholas Owen. Also in 2007, he hosted a political program for ITV Moral of the Story which aired at various late times on Sunday nights. Stewart became the main co-presenter of the ITV evening news in August 2009. Stewart presided over the first UK prime ministerial discussion for the 2010 General Election in April 2010.
Unbelievable incidents caught on video was a one-off ITV program that Stewart aired on December 28, 2014. Stewart also reported on the United Kingdom’s referendum on joining the European Union for ITV News. Later 2020 he worked as a relief presenter for Talk radio. In early April 2021, it was announced that he would join GB News to host a weekend news and current affairs program.
